Thank goodness, finally the wind has died down, and it's so much better
to play pickleball. Unfortunately, it's also getting warmer and more
humid in Florida. But everyday is good for Pickleball! :)

I could google it, but in the spirit of BBS'ing, could you give a basic description of what Pickleball is and how it's played? Honestly I've
    never heard of it.

    Thanks!

Think of a tennis court, but on a smaller scale. Also, the net is a bit lower. Instead of
rackets, you use composite paddles to hit a plastic whiffle ball.

Serving is done underhanded. Keeping the score is a bit tricky. My score first, your
score second, and which person is serving will determine how you call the score. If I the
first server and my team has 2 and the other team has 1, the score would be 2-1-1 (1
because I am the first server). You can only score a point on your team's serve. Once
both team members don't score a point, the serve reverts to the other team.

There is a lined area on either side of the net nicknamed the "kitchen" (non-volley
zone). You can't volley the ball (strike it without it bouncing first) while standing in the
kitchen. This is meant to prevent players standing near the net to slam the ball back.

You play to 11 and you have to win by 2.

Because the court is smaller than a tennis court, you don't have to work quite as hard to
    get to the ball.

There's a lot more. Perhaps Jan can continue, but I recommend watching play on YouTube.

Excellent explanation, thank you! I did watch a couple of Youtube
videos on it and it looks great. Not sure how I didn't know about
    this... Appreciate the info.
