Hi Gamgee, Pickleball is the fastet growing sport in the US.It is a
cross between ping pong, tennis and badminton, and played on a court
similar to a badminton court with a tennis type net, slightly shorter
than a tennis net. It is played with a paddle, larger than a ping pong
paddle, with a ball that is slightly larger, but similar to a whiffle
ball. The game begins with the server hitting a cross court serve,
underhanded, to the opponent, who returns the ball after it bounces. The serving team then hits the ball, after it bounces, and play continues.
After both teams return the ball, it may be volleyed in the air, as long
as the player doesn't step into the non-volley zone, which is marked on
the court with a line 7 ft. from the net. A team scores a point only
when they are serving, and the game is played until one team scores 11
points, and they must win by 2. You can check it out on You Tube, and
see exactly how it is played. But be careful! Pickleball is very
    addictive! :)

Jan, thank you for the explanation! Since my previous message, I have
indeed watched it in action on Youtube, and it looks very fun. Haven't actually seen it around here, or know of a place that has a court, but I
may be looking into that! Appreciate it.
