LOL, this is from the old GT Power ANSI art echo. Tom Currie was my local
hub for that network for years until I left Louisville. He shut his board
down shortly thereafter. I wonder who he was writing that to?

On 03-20-1991 I was using a Commodore 64 to Dial in to The Volunteer BBS.
I might still have a 5 1/4" floppy of my activities that date.

Can't remember if the ANSI/ASCII Art Echo was a echo I participated in
back then since I was only using CBM BASIC, not MS-DOS.

After reading Your Post to Barry it made me think about Tom Currie being
in a serious Accident on US 31-W (the DIXIE Highway) as He was driving to
his job at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

That happened while he was still running his board, right? I have a very
vague memory of something happening to him before, or just after, I left Louisville.

Unfortunately I can't answer: at the time had made the somewhat
shortsighted decision to delete 'unnecessary' information from files in
an effort to save disk space -- snip so the file would fit within the
    1024 byte cluster.

I fairly sure Toms board was in use when He had that accident, so this GETWELL.ANS that someone wrote to Tom may have been when that happened.

I can't remember what year it was that He discontinued the BBS but I was
    using a 486 with MS-DOS 5.0 when it ended.

I believe I was still using Your BBS and the PRISM BBS after The Volunteer
    BBS went offline.

Mentioning the PRIZM BBS caused me to remember telling Janis about You and Daryl experimenting with the Internet to pass GT POWER packets, since You
Both were subscribed to an Internet Service back then.

Using the Internet sure helped cut the cost of the Telephone Bill didn't it? You All were already paying for the internet service, so why not use it!

What year did You move to Frankfort, Kentucky?

I worked with DeWayne Davis who lived in the eastern part of Jefferson
County and I think He said that He knew of You.
DeWayne worked at the Louisville Repair Station.

That is sort of funny. When I started carrying FIDO, Janis was the local
hub here. I have been exchanging packets with her, via the Internet, ever since.

Yes, it did help a lot, especially once I moved to Frankfort & no one was local.

What year did You move to Frankfort, Kentucky?

October, 1997, right before Halloween. :)

The name does not ring a bell. My name is fairly common, so maybe it was a different "Michael Powell"? :)
