Fully defined with no compression, AFAIK.
Don't GIF, JPG etc squeeze out some of that data?
GIF is 256 colour (8bit) with non-lossy compression. JPG is 16M colour
with lossy compression. (Well, I've seen software make 'em in other
colour depths, with varying results up to mangled beyond all use).
And even these compressions must have some waste, because ULead's
WebRazor util can shrink files further still.
