From BARRY MARTIN@454:3/105 to CARROLL MCALLISTER on Friday, November 19, 2010 05:12:00
    Hi Carroll!

well. They may have changed something in one of the updates. I
    don't know for sure, though.
OK, thanks; at least I know it's a 'them rather than me' problem. I
didn't recall doing anything to change paremters but....
Having said that, I had an occasion the other day where it worked
like expected. The download window stayed open even when I
closed the main Firefox window. So, I don't know what's going
on. But then, that's nothing new. <G>

I haven't had that except when I accidentally closed Firefox and still
had a download going. The d/l continued and when done the window
vanished. As for not know what's going on, BTDT!

Not saying I'm not going to, just don't have the inclination, mainly
because too much other stuff taking my time.
Facebook can definitely be a "time waster".

    Well, so can anything!

    Hi Carroll!

Facebook can definitely be a "time waster".
    Well, so can anything!
Oh, I only *thought* I could find ways to waste my time before
Facebook came along. Facebook brings a whole new meaning to the
phrase "wasting time". Yet, I'm still on it. <G>

To boldly go forward where no one has wasted time before!

Seriously though, it's great for keeping in contact with folks
you don't see on a regular basis. I'm talking to folks on there I
haven't seen in 20 or 30 years. Plus, there's all the family
that's on there, that I only get to see every few years, usually
at a funeral or something like that.

So when the post pix they're not in black? That might be something!!

Is that a line from Monty Python?

No, I think it came from Emily Post. ...Oh! _Your_ line! <bseg>

Doug Powless have been hanging out on Facebook. I see Gregg on Facebook more than I have here recently on I-Link.

Yes, and even on Facebook, the comments are few and far between. I keep canvassing for messages here now and then but lately there has been
nothing. Until today, when I downloaded a whole 16 messages. (Yahoo!)

Facebook can definitely be a "time waster".

Sure can, if you let it. I made the mistake of initially creating an
account with my real name. And while it was great to find old friends
from long ago, it was a little less pleasnt to also pick up a few
    stalkers.

Can you believe that? Me, a guy, getting female stalkers. It was
pretty creepy, let me tell you. I had to delete the account and start over with the weirdest freaking Facebook name I could invent.

Hard to believe that a "man about town" such as yourself would get
    stalkers! ;-)

with the weirdest freaking Facebook name I could invent.

That's what is surprising: that you've been able to keep it going that
long. It's supposedly a violation of their terms of service to open an
    account under "an assumed name".

I'm not surprised really. Can you imagine the monumental labour cost associated with monitoring all that stuff? With millions of users world-
wide, many of them having names you can't even pronounce? It's mostly machine-monitored, so it becomes a matter of guessing at the protocols
    they're using.

Me either. I browse it now and then, mostly because my kids are on
there, and it's a good way to stay in contact with them. Otherwise....meh. I'm not all that interested.
