Oh cool! It's a *law*??? Excellent.

My plan is no where as great as yours but it's still a lot better than what they're currently offering to new subscribers. I'll have to remember that when upgrading my iPhone in the summer.

Before I upgrade a phone, I always check the current plans being
offered, and compare them to what I have. If the new things don't compare,
    if
they are worse (and they always are), I simply renew what I have. I
believe the law says that if that is what I want, they can't do a thing about it, so I make sure they know that is what I want.

Oh cool! It's a *law*??? Excellent.

Fascinating! I've never heard of a divorce happening without a legal separation preceding. If by, uncontested you mean *truly* uncontested - where there are no papers drawn up to indicate a division of assets, then that's even more interesting.

Define "legal separation"... according to the law (or so I have been
told), living apart for more than a year due to a breakdown of the
marriage is a "legal separation" and all that is required to initiate divorce proceedings. There is no need to consult a lawyer and draw up any form of paper if the two parties have agreed to the "terms".

As for "uncontested", this means that whatever terms or conditions are included in the divorce papers by the initiating party are acceptable as
they stand by the other party and they will not contest the divorce in
the courts. In my case, I will be glad to divide the assets evenly
provided she also accepts 1/2 the debt incurred in acquiring those assets, as they both existed on the date of breakdown of the marriage (the day she
walked out). If she does (and has, as her lawyer cousin informed her
the courts would insist on this <G>), then the stuff she took with her
when she left is in excess of her net half <G>

AAMOF, this kind of divorce (uncontested) can even be done without a
lawyer. I believe you can purchase a "kit" of the required forms and
filing information, complete them, and in effect, be your own lawyer. There
is a court fee (or fees) but no legal costs...

Another difference between our countries... here, moving cable or GH>satellite isn't that costly... or is free (as in the case of cable, and GH>sometimes, satellite)

Moving cable is no big deal. Satellite service is a different story.
At least as far as the work involved. The cost, I'm not positive about, because I've never had to do anything like that. I do know that when I
had Dish Network, they kept advertising their "Dish Mover" service, for
those that moved to a different location and needed to transfer the
service. I assumed a fee was involved, but I don't know that for a

marriage is a "legal separation" and all that is required to initiate
    divorce
proceedings. There is no need to consult a lawyer and draw up any form of paper if the two parties have agreed to the "terms".

Interesting. I suppose the only problem with having an uncontested
divorce occurs when one or the other party decides later on down the road that, yes, damn it - my spouse *does* owe me something here. In such
cases, he or she can go to the courts and start the fight all over again.

When you have legal papers all signed and witnessed, it's a different
story - more protection in the long run, for both parties. Even amicable separation agreements can be done this way, just to make sure the air
    stays clear.

We should talk more about this sometime Gregg. Offline of course.

As for "uncontested", this means that whatever terms or conditions are included in the divorce papers by the initiating party are acceptable as they stand by the other party and they will not contest the divorce in
the courts. In my case, I will be glad to divide the assets evenly
provided she also accepts 1/2 the debt incurred in acquiring those assets,
    as
they both existed on the date of breakdown of the marriage (the day she walked out). If she does (and has, as her lawyer cousin informed her
the courts would insist on this <G>), then the stuff she took with her
when she left is in excess of her net half <G>

AAMOF, this kind of divorce (uncontested) can even be done without a lawyer. I believe you can purchase a "kit" of the required forms and
filing information, complete them, and in effect, be your own lawyer.
    There
is a court fee (or fees) but no legal costs...

I suppose in the end you're relying on each others' good will right?

    the older one <GG>

Which still points toward you. I've seen your photo, remember?

At my niece's wedding six years ago, one of the ladies at my *younger* brother's church kept asking me: "Are you really the oldest? Really?!"
Since my brother got the prematurely gray gene from my dad, he does look
    older than myself.

That bugged my brother, for some reason. <G>

I don't need "rollover" minutes. I rarely ever use my full 700 weekday

I rarely use more than my allotment, either. The reason I signed up for
a plan that included it, was for situations like we were faced with 2.5
years ago, when we nearly lost my dad after his hip replacement surgery,
when he had the mini-stroke and fractured a vertebrae in his neck via a
    fall.

With keeping family members updated on his status, particularly that
first night in the emergency room, I went over my minute allotment by
about 200 minutes or so, to the tune of a couple of hundred dollars in
overage charges. AT&T waived half the overage charges when I signed up
for a plan that included rollover minutes. That's the only reason I got
the rollover plan: Emergencies involving family members. I've never had
to use any rollover minutes, thank goodness, but it's been there if I
    needed it.

My plan is no where as great as yours but it's still a lot better than
what they're currently offering to new subscribers. I'll have to
remember that when upgrading my iPhone in the summer.

Before I upgrade a phone, I always check the current plans being
offered, and compare them to what I have. If the new things don't compare, if they are worse (and they always are), I simply renew what I have. I
believe the law says that if that is what I want, they can't do a thing
about it, so I make sure they know that is what I want.

When I upgraded beginning of the month, the fellow took a look at my
plan, and began laughing. He then asked me what it felt like to stick it

    Hi Gregg!

Yeah! I also had a 'pet rock' but it wasn't the official Pet Rock:
found a double-fist-sized rock that looked neat. Must have found it
when it was wet as spray varished it to keep that shiny/glistening look.
At least your pet rock didn't cost you hard earned monies <GG>

Nope! Well, except for the cost of the spray varnish. ...Off hand,
don't recall _why_ I had spray varnish -- I lived in an apartment at the
time. OTOH I did have some spray paint. No, wasn't 'tagging'! The
grills for the a/c and heating vents were looking bad so took them down,
    washed them, and spray painted.

...Not sure where it is now -- might be outside in one of the rock. gardens.
And it is now serving a more useful purpose than mine is <GG>

Right now your's might be serving a more useful purpose: mine is under a
